Top Cow Announces Compact Sunstone Editions for 2026
13SHARESStjepan Šejić’s Sunstone is getting reformatted into smaller 6×9 paperback editions, and the timing is deliberate—Volume 1 drops February 11, right before Valentine’s Day. Top Cow and Image are rolling out all six volumes throughout 2026, each with new cover art by Šejić. The existing trade paperbacks, deluxe hardcovers, and compendiums aren’t going anywhere, so this is just another format option for readers.
Sunstone started as a webcomic and became something bigger than anyone expected. It’s a romance series about two women, Lisa and Ally, navigating a BDSM relationship. Lisa’s into bondage and submission but never found the right partner until she met Ally, who prefers the dominant role. What makes the series work is how Šejić balances the erotic content with genuine emotional storytelling and humor. It’s explicit, sure, but it’s also funny and surprisingly vulnerable about relationships and intimacy.
The series has a loyal international following and gets praised regularly for how it handles its subject matter. Šejić clearly did his research and approached the story with care rather than going for cheap shock value. The characters feel real, the relationship develops naturally, and the book doesn’t shy away from showing both the physical and emotional aspects of their connection. It’s sold well in over 55 countries and gets translated into 21 languages, which tells you something about how broadly it resonates.
The 6×9 format is smaller than the standard trade paperback, which makes it more portable and a bit more intimate as a reading experience. Šejić designed new covers specifically for these editions. If you’ve been curious about the series but haven’t picked it up yet, February might be a good entry point. Volume 1 hits comic shops February 11 and bookstores March 10. The rest of the volumes follow every couple months through the end of 2026—Volume 2 in April, Volume 3 in June, Volume 4 in August, Volume 5 in October, and Volume 6 in December. Digital versions are available now on Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
