The first issue of Herald, Lovecraft & Tesla is a well crafted and a fun balance of fantasy and alternate history with an all star cast which includes Nikolai Tesla, Amelia Earhart, Harry Houdini, HP Lovecraft, Mark Twain..even includes the Necronomicon!

“Aleister Crowley sends his Scarlet Women to offer Houdini a deal.
Howard and Sonia’s exploits have painful consequences.
Tesla begins testing of his Ceryx ex Praeterito dream machine”

The first issue does well in its pacing, introducing various characters long enough to entice the reader with questions that drive the story forward. The dialogue is well written and serves to inform on each characters personality and the relationships between them, helping the plot develop on multiple levels. The artwork is also a good balance of a cartoon and expressive style and very effective in telling its story.

Im not a knowledgeable fan of the genre but I had a lot of fun reading this! It felt like watching the cartoon pilot of a fun series. I could easily see this being adapted for TV with subject matter like magic, science, multiple dimensions, witchcraft and romance. The artwork is simple and clean and well crafted, well colored and efficient. Each character was developed just enough to keep me interested in what will eventually happen to them and how their conflict develops and how they resolve their challenge within the next two issues. An over-all fun read.
