Cosplayer of the week : Lauren Edinger AKA WeyrWoman Cosplay

Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?

Lauren Edinger : My dad introduced me to cons at a young age! I’ve been making my costumes since I was a kid.

Leo Nocedo :What was your first cosplay?

Lauren Edinger : Adult cosplay Princess Leia. Kid cosplay…I think a cat of some sort? Haha

Leo Nocedo : What are your next 3 cosplay plans?

Lauren Edinger :  Taarna, Aurora…ummm no idea.

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever been in a cosplay contest?

Lauren Edinger : Once at a comic shop and once at a con (but it was a bad experience)

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer sewing, armor making, or wig working?

Lauren Edinger : Sewing and armor (though I’m new at armor)

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to do photoshoots at cons or at specific locations?

Lauren Edinger : Locations!

Leo Nocedo : Is there a type of character you cosplay frequently?

Lauren Edinger : Disney princesses and variations!

Leo Nocedo :Do you have any favorite cosplayers?

Lauren Edinger : Too many to name. I’m a big fan of my @thegothamundergroundcosplay group and the cosplayers in it though!

Leo Nocedo :What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?

Lauren Edinger : Maleficent or my Sorsha

Leo Nocedo :What are your top 3 craftsmanship tips?

Lauren Edinger : Do not guesstimate measurements, don’t be afraid to experiment, there are so many YouTube tutorials!!!!

Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay you’ve done?

Lauren Edinger : Maleficent

Leo Nocedo : What is your worst cosplay “horror” story?

Lauren Edinger : Ummmm… my costume ripped on stage…

Leo Nocedo : What’s your funniest cosplay story?

Lauren Edinger : Probably the same as the worst lmfao just not at the time!!

Leo Nocedo : What’s the best in-character interaction you’ve ever had?

Lauren Edinger : Children’s hospitals. There was a little girl who was just sure I was the real rapunzel, it was amazing.

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever cosplayed with a family member?

Lauren Edinger : I cosplay with my daughter all the time!!

Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay photo of yourself?

Lauren Edinger : I have no idea!

Leo Nocedo : What are your go-to stores for cosplay materials/full cosplays?

Lauren Edinger : Goodwill!

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy pre-styled wigs or style your own?

Lauren Edinger : I prefer prestyled because I hate styling wigs, but I do both.

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?

Lauren Edinger : Yes!!! My steampunk Ariel is always caked Mera and my Atlanna is always called Elsa!

Leo Nocedo : List all the cosplays you’ve done.

Lauren Edinger : Ha. I have over 100 I’ve done and 55 current so…

Leo Nocedo : What’s the biggest con you’ve cosplayed at?

Lauren Edinger : DragonCon

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer cosplaying characters with props, or characters that you don’t need to carry a prop around all day?

Lauren Edinger : I’m fine with either as long as it’s not heavy! I also like bag props for obvious reasons

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever lost a cosplay piece at a con?

Lauren Edinger : Oh yes.

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever bought a cosplay piece at a con?

Lauren Edinger : No

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to cosplay solo or in a group?

Lauren Edinger : Solo

Leo Nocedo : If you had a chance to meet your all-time favorite cosplayer, what would you say to them?

Lauren Edinger : I meet them everyday, and I usually give them hugs. I’m surrounded by wonderful cosplayers all the time. I’m super lucky. My charity groups like CWC and Gotham are amazing.

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever done a cosplay panel?

Lauren Edinger : Yes.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy or make cosplays?

Lauren Edinger : Both!

Leo Nocedo : If you could tell your past self anything about cosplay, what would you say?

Lauren Edinger : Do whatever character makes you happy.

Leo Nocedo : What is your ultimate dream cosplay?

Lauren Edinger : Oh man…Mord Sith and Taarna.

Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult cosplay you’ve ever done? (Craftsmanship, wearing of, ect).

Lauren Edinger : maleficent and sorsha.

Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult character makeup you’ve done?

Lauren Edinger : Hmmm maleficent, Ivy, Ariel.

Leo Nocedo : What, in your opinion, makes a cosplayer a “pro” cosplayer?

Lauren Edinger : When they get paid to do I.

Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?

Lauren Edinger : Taking pictures of a new cosplay and debuting it!

Leo Nocedo : Least favorite cosplay to wear?

Lauren Edinger :  Would have to say Ivy.

Leo Nocedo is a cosplay photographer who has been using a camera for the last forty years in many forms , in the military and professional studios in Miami and New York city . He got his start in cosplay photography attending conventions with his brother Juan Nocedo . He keeps on doing what he does to honor his late brother .
