Cosplayer Interview

Cosplayer of the Week: Michael D. Pelaez

Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?
Michael D. Pelaez : I was asked to join a radio station based in Zephyrhills to participate in parades. I picked Spider-Man because he’s my favorite superhero.
Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?
Michael D. Pelaez : Spider-Man. He’s my only character.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer sewing, armor making, or wig working?
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to do photoshoots at cons or at specific locations?
Michael D. Pelaez : I love posing for photos with kids at comic cons.

Leo Nocedo : What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?
Leo Nocedo : What’s your funniest cosplay story?
Michael D. Pelaez :
The way I crawl sometimes I like to make people laugh and the way I dance.

Leo Nocedo : What’s the best in-character interaction you’ve ever had?
Michael D. Pelaez :
I remember being at Clearwater Comic Con and I saw a little boy walking up and I ran and jumped and landed right in front of him. The Look on his face was priceless. The biggest smile I’ve ever seen. It warmed my heart.
Leo Nocedo :
What is your favorite cosplay photo of yourself?
Michael D. Pelaez : When Clearwater Comic Con made my ad banner.
Leo Nocedo :
Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?
Michael D. Pelaez : All the time. Adults and grandmothers always call me Superman or Batman.
Leo Nocedo :
What’s the biggest con you’ve cosplayed at?
Michael D. Pelaez :
Megacon and Tampa Bay Comic Con.
Leo Nocedo :
Do you prefer to cosplay solo or in a group?
Michael D. Pelaez :
It depends. I’ve attended on my own and with friends or a group. I’m fine either way.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever done a cosplay panel?
Michael D. Pelaez :
Yes at a smaller comic con.
Leo Nocedo : If you could tell your past self anything about cosplay, what would you say?
Michael D. Pelaez :
You’re going to become your favorite superhero!
Leo Nocedo : What is your ultimate dream cosplay?
Michael D. Pelaez :
To continue to be Spider-Man!
Leo Nocedo : What, in your opinion, makes a cosplayer a “pro” cosplayer?
Michael D. Pelaez :Just treating the character right and being kind to others.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?
Michael D. Pelaez :  Interacting with kids and all Spider-Man fans of all ages.
Leo Nocedo : Make up your own question!
Michael D. Pelaez :
What was your first experience being on video/TV in costume? It was my first time visiting a hospital to see the kids and FOX 13 was there to capture it all. Plus it was the first time I said my title on video. I’m The Tampa Spider-Man. The video is still available to view on YouTube.
