Cosplayer of the week : Austin Peagler

Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?
Austin Peagler : I discovered cosplay by attending my first convention which was MegaCon 2016
Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?
Austin Peagler : My first cosplay was a basic comic looking Deadpool                                                                   Leo Nocedo : What are your next 3 cosplay plans?
Austin Peagler :My next 3 cosplay plans are Dark Helmet, Possibly Spider-Man and a custom Mandalorian
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever been in a cosplay contest?
Austin Peagler : I have been in a Star Wars costume contest as a Dark Jedi and lost to princess Leia 😃
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer sewing, armor making, or wig working?
Austin Peagler : I prefer armor making
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to do photoshoots at cons or at specific locations?
Austin Peagler : I like both photoshoots at cons and specific locations. Cons would be for meeting a lot of cool people and specific locations for some cool backgrounds.
Leo Nocedo : Is there a type of character you cosplay frequently?
Austin Peagler : I mostly cosplay my Ghostbuster uniform. I enjoy it the most and more people love Ghostbusters than almost anything I know!
Leo Nocedo : Do you have any favorite cosplayers?
Austin Peagler : My favorite cosplayer is probably Adam Savage and not just because he is a Mythbuster!
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?
Austin Peagler :  The most detailed cosplay I have is my Ghostbuster uniform. Especially the proton pack with all the bells and whistles.
Leo Nocedo : What are your top 3 craftsmanship tips?
Austin Peagler :  My 3 craftsmanship tips would be don’t be impatient, learn by doing and try to have and organized work space.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay you’ve done?
Austin Peagler : My favorite cosplay I have done would have to be my Ghostbuster uniform. It gets a lot of smiles and it is fun to wear!
Leo Nocedo : What is your worst cosplay “horror” story?
Austin Peagler :  The only thing bad cosplay-wise that has happened to me is overheating in my thick Deadpool suit in the Florida sun. Shade and a nice breeze are important( and water)
Leo Nocedo : What’s your funniest cosplay story?
Austin Peagler : The funniest thing that has happened to me in a cosplay is getting mistaken as Spider-Man in my Deadpool suit. I just went with it and told them about webs and how sticky they are when I’m eating burritos.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever cosplayed with a family member?
Austin Peagler : I have cosplayed with my parents before. They actually introduced me to cosplaying!
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay photo of yourself?
Austin Peagler :  My favorite cosplay photo of myself would have to be me in my Rorschach cosplay with Jefferey Dean Morgan.
Leo Nocedo : What are your go-to stores for cosplay materials/full cosplays?
Austin Peagler :That would have to be Etsy, Ebay and Amazon!
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy pre-styled wigs or style your own?
Austin Peagler : I don’t really do wigs. I’m more of a full mask, helmet or my own head person.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?
Austin Peagler :Definitely get mixed up with Spider-Man when I’m Deadpool. It’s inevitable.
Leo Nocedo : List all the cosplays you’ve done.
Austin Peagler :  All the cosplays I have done are Deadpool, Ghostbuster, Rorschach, Jareth from the Labyrinth, Joker from Dark Knight and from Joker, Austin Powers, Ghost Rider and Indiana Jones.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the biggest con you’ve cosplayed at?
Austin Peagler : The biggest con I have cosplayed at would be MegaCon
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer cosplaying characters with props, or characters that you don’t need to carry a prop around all day?
Austin Peagler : I prefer cosplays with props. It makes it more believable and more fun
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever lost a cosplay piece at a con?
Austin Peagler : I lost a fake moustache for one of my Deadpool cosplays. I still get sad thinking about that moustache being lost in the world
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever bought a cosplay piece at a con?
Austin Peagler : I have bought many patches at cons for cosplays and well as some nice foam katanas for Deadpool.
Leo Nocedo :Do you prefer to cosplay solo or in a group?
Austin Peagler :    I like both group and solo photo ops. Depends on the cosplay and event.
Leo Nocedo : If you had a chance to meet your all-time favorite cosplayer, what would you say to them?
Austin Peagler : If I met Adam Savage I’d ask him to teach me the ways of Mythbusting and prop-making.
Leo Nocedo :Have you ever done a cosplay panel?
Austin Peagler : I have only attended cosplay panels. I don’t have the knowledge or experience to tell others how to cosplay lol
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy or make cosplays?
Austin Peagler : A bit of both as it depends on the cosplay. For my Ghostbusters I had to buy many things and assemble them to complete the uniform.
Leo Nocedo : If you could tell your past self anything about cosplay, what would you say?
Austin Peagler : I would tell my younger self to start cosplaying Ghostbusters earlier in life.
Leo Nocedo : What is your ultimate dream cosplay?
Austin Peagler : My ultimate dream cosplay would be Dark Helmet from Spaceballs. Arguably my favorite costume I have seen.
Leo Nocedo :What’s the most difficult cosplay you’ve ever done? (Craftsmanship, wearing of, ect)
Austin Peagler : My most difficult so far is my Ghostbusters uniform. The proton pack takes A LOT of work and the work never ends!
Leo Nocedo :What’s the most difficult character makeup you’ve done?
Austin Peagler : The most difficult character makeup I have done is Heath Ledgers Joker makeup. The scars are not easy to make.
Leo Nocedo :What, in your opinion, makes a cosplayer a “pro” cosplayer?
Austin Peagler :I guess to me a pro cosplayer is someone who understands the character but most importantly understands what that cosplay means to people. For many people they look up to those characters as heroes so it’s important to represent them as such.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?
Austin Peagler : My favorite part of cosplaying would have to me the smiles people have when they see their favorite character interacting with them.
