Cosplayer Interview

Cosplayer of the Week: Staci Etheridge AKA Take A Chance Cosplay

Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?
Staci Etheridge : I discovered cosplay from doing costumed charity work.
Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?
Staci Etheridge : Hermione Granger
Leo Nocedo : What are your next 3 cosplay plans?
Staci Etheridge : Gwenom, Jaskier, and Baroness Zemo
Leo Nocedo : Is there a type of character you cosplay frequently?
Staci Etheridge : Marvel. Lots of Marvel. Specifically Scarlet Witch.
Leo Nocedo : Do you have any favorite cosplayers?
Staci Etheridge : Alyson Tabbitha and my Chaotix Crew. Both inspire me everyday to do better.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?
Staci Etheridge : Possibly Neckbrace Loki because there are tons of Easter eggs on the neckbrace. Another contender is Chance from Halloween Horror Nights. I’m always analyzing photos and footage to make her more accurate.
Leo Nocedo : What are your top 3 craftsmanship tips?
Staci Etheridge : Go slow. It’s always easier to dye darker from light fabrics and same with wigs. If you have to use hot tools on synthetic wigs, don’t do it often. Try to keep the wig in that style as long as you possibly can. Also remember to wash your wigs.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever cosplayed with a family member?
Staci Etheridge : With my dad, brother and mom. We’ve done Marvel, Harry Potter and DC together.
Leo Nocedo : What are your go-to stores for cosplay materials/full cosplays?
Staci Etheridge : Full cosplays are usually ProCosplay or CosplayDIY. Stores for materials are Walmart and Dollar stores. If I need something specific, Joanne’s.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy pre-styled wigs or style your own?
Staci Etheridge : I prefer to style them myself. I like being able to have control of the hair.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?
Staci Etheridge : Yep. Specifically Rogue gets mistaken a lot. Been called Jean Grey and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turlte in that cosplay.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the biggest con you’ve cosplayed at?
Staci Etheridge :  DragonCon. Nothing beats it.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer cosplaying characters with props, or characters that you don’t need to carry a prop around all day?
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever lost a cosplay piece at a con?
Staci Etheridge : All the time! Usually small things like Bobby or safety pins. But I’ve lost Gloves, earrings, makeup, etc.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever bought a cosplay piece at a con?
Staci Etheridge : I’ve bought makeup a necklace for a character at a con.
Leo Nocedo : What is your ultimate dream cosplay?
Staci Etheridge : Grand Duchess Anastasia. Been a dream since I was a kid.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult cosplay you’ve ever done? (Craftsmanship, wearing of, ect)
Staci Etheridge : Gamora. It’s the makeup and trying not to turn everything green while fighting for AC.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult character makeup you’ve done?
Staci Etheridge : Normal character: Gamora. All that green. Drag King characters: Carrie. All that blood.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?
Staci Etheridge : The community and reactions to characters being brought to life in person.
Leo Nocedo : Make up your own question!
Staci Etheridge : Dream couple cosplay?
