Energon Unleashed: The Continuing Epic of Cobra’s Destro

Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with premier toy and game manufacturer Hasbro, have unveiled a sneak peek at the interior artwork and a diverse array of variant covers for the upcoming third issue of the limited series Destro. This next installment, penned by acclaimed writer Dan Watters, known for his work on titles such as Loki and Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!, features guest illustrations by Andrea Milana, famed for Cobra Commander, and is brought to life with colors by Adriano Lucas, whose credits include Dark Ride and Nightwing. Destro #3 is slated for release in comic book stores on August 21, 2024.

In this harrowing chapter, Destro finds himself weaponless and stranded in the unforgiving mountain terrain, facing the fury of the enigmatic Chameleon. The pressing questions that arise are: Who exactly is the Chameleon, and what drives their vendetta against Laird Destro?

The third issue of Destro boasts a primary cover crafted by the talented duo of Andrei Bressan and Lucas, complemented by a robust selection of variant covers. These include a widely available cover by Karl Kerschl of Gotham Academy fame, a special 1:10 incentive connecting cover by Nikola Čižmešija, known for Batman and Robin, a 1:25 incentive variant by Mico Suayan and Rex Lokus, recognized for their work on Bloodshot: Reborn and Action Comics respectively, and an exclusive 1:50 incentive variant by Eric Canete, celebrated for Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin.

Destro is part of an exhilarating quartet of G.I. JOE miniseries that serve as an introduction to the legendary figures of the G.I. Joe and Cobra factions within the Energon Universe. This series stands alongside Duke, crafted by Joshua Williamson with artists Tom Reilly and colorist Jordie Bellaire; Cobra Commander, also by Williamson with artist Andrea Milana and colorist Annalisa Leoni; and Scarlett, by writer Kelly Thompson, artist Marco Ferrari, and colorist Lee Loughridge. These narratives are set to redefine the classic G.I. Joe and Cobra lore, offering a novel perspective on the characters fans thought they knew.

Destro is a pivotal narrative within the Energon Universe, marking a significant chapter in the historic alliance between Hasbro and Skybound, and intertwining the worlds of TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE.
