The epitome of “cozy fantasy,” Legends & Lattes is a book that will make you want to curl up with a cup of coffee and a Cinnabon.

Legends & Lattes is an absolute delight; from beginning to end, this novel is worth reading.

Storytelling

If you haven’t already gotten that, I absolutely loved this novel. This novel is hands down one of my favorites, marking Travis Baldree as one of my new favorite authors.

The story follows Viv, a retired orc/bounty hunter who just wants to do one thing: open a coffee shop.

In her pursuit to make her dream come true, she meets Cal, a hobgoblin and master carpenter; Tandri, an artistic succubus; and Thimble, a soft-spoken ratkin and genius baker.

These are only some of the brilliant characters that Baldree has crafted, giving them such outstanding personalities and building up that perfect #foundfamily trope. They fit together, coming together to make this coffee shop successful and believing in Viv and her dream.

But it’s not just the characters that make the story great; it’s also the atmosphere.

A Love Letter to DnD

As an avid Dungeons and Dragons fan (I literally have the Dragonlance logo tattooed on my arm), I loved the world that Baldree created here. In this coffee shop, these characters are some that would fit into any DnD campaign. Because that’s how it feels. The town, the coffee shop, feels genuine and like home.

While reading this novel, I just wanted to fall into the book, grab one of her cups of coffee, and sit down and play chess with these characters. It feels warm and cozy just reading this novel. And that is due to Baldree’s brilliant style of writing and world-building.

Final Thoughts

Legends & Lattes is simply brilliant and a must-read for all.
