If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if time decided to throw a fit, Assorted Crisis Events has the answer—and trust me, it’s as wild as it sounds. This ambitious, mind-bending new series launches this March, and I can’t wait to dive into its chaotic brilliance.
Here’s the setup: Time isn’t just a concept anymore—it’s a total mess. In this alternate world, stepping outside your front door could send you spiraling into a time loop, stumbling through a space portal, or coming face-to-face with a version of yourself from an alternate dimension. Imagine cavemen wandering around the red-light district, cyborg soldiers on their coffee breaks from World War IV, and Victorian ladies struggling to figure out smartphones. Oh, and don’t forget the 3:15 bus—it might accidentally drop you off in the Neolithic era.
Behind this clock-shattering concept is an all-star team of creators who are bringing their A-game. Writer Deniz Camp (20th Century Men, The Ultimates), artist Eric Zawadzki (Heart Attack, House of El), colorist Jordie Bellaire (They’re Not Like Us, Birds of Prey), and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou (Time Before Time, Poison Ivy) have joined forces to craft an anthology series that’s equal parts beautiful, bizarre, tragic, and hopeful.
According to Camp, the series blends the everyday chaos of normal people with the massive, universe-shaking stakes of a Crisis on Infinite Earths. “This has been one of the most ambitious and rewarding creative experiences of my life,” he said. “Each issue stands alone as a personal, inventive story, but they all contribute to a larger narrative—what caused this crisis, and can it ever be fixed?”
For Zawadzki, this project is a dream come true. “Every script pushes the boundaries of what comics can do,” he said. “It’s the proudest work of my career, and getting to collaborate with Jordie and Hassan, two Eisner-winning legends, has been an incredible experience.”
The first issue of Assorted Crisis Events hits comic book shops on Wednesday, March 12, featuring multiple covers to choose from:
