Dawn Brown Brings a New Tale to Life with Gracie’s Ghost
Award-winning set designer, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew contributor, and Eisner-nominated cartoonist Dawn Brown is set to release her latest graphic novel, Gracie’s Ghost, this September through Image Comics. Known for her work on The Hunger Games films and the comics Little Red Hot and Ravenous, Brown is now channeling her storytelling expertise into a heartfelt, original story for young readers.
A Ghostly Companion for Life’s Challenges
Gracie’s Ghost follows an eccentric young girl as she navigates the ups and downs of school and family life—all with the help of her guardian ghost. The book is structured as a series of interconnected short stories, each exploring themes of sibling rivalry, empathy, and bullying. Fans of Calvin & Hobbes, The Girl and the Glim, and Sheets will find a familiar mix of humor, heart, and adventure in Brown’s storytelling.
“Gracie’s Ghost is sort of a fictionalized version of events that really happened to me,” Brown shares. “I wrote this book for kids who haven’t always had the easy road. Whatever their challenge is, they are not alone.“
A Must-Read for Middle-Grade Readers
Perfect for tweens and middle schoolers, Gracie’s Ghost is a touching and relatable read for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider or leaned on the comfort of an imaginary friend. The book will be available in a 6×9″ paperback format and can be found in comic shops starting Wednesday, September 10. It will hit bookstores and online retailers—including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, and Indigo—on Tuesday, September 23.
For digital readers, Gracie’s Ghost will also be available on Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
