Finn‑Con@MDC is almost here and it sounds like a total blast! If you’re into anime, gaming, cosplay, or just all things nerdy and fun, then you have to check this out. It’s happening on Saturday, June 21, from 1 PM to 9 PM at Miami Dade College’s North Campus, and the best part? It’s totally free! Yep, you read that right—an entire day of geeky fun and I don’t have to spend a single dime to get in.
There’s going to be so much to do, and I honestly don’t know what I’m most excited about. They’re doing this live anime and video game concert, which sounds amazing. Imagine an orchestra playing the Super Mario theme or other iconic anime music—how cool is that?! And it’s not just music; they’ll have lights and effects to go with it, so it’s basically going to feel like I’m inside the game or show.
If you’ve got a little performer in you, you need to check out the singing competition. You can sing something from your favorite anime, cartoon, musical, or even a movie soundtrack. No pressure if you’re not a pro—they said all levels are welcome, and it’s more about having fun and sharing what you love than being perfect. I’m totally thinking about doing it just for fun!
Oh, and gamers, listen up—they’re also doing a big gaming tournament! Whether you’re into classic button-mashers or newer stuff, it sounds like there’s going to be a mix of everything. So if you’re feeling competitive, go for it and maybe even win something. I’m already wondering if I should practice just in case!
Of course, you know there’s going to be a cosplay contest. This is your moment to shine if you’ve been working on a look or want to show off your fave character. They’re encouraging skits and performances too, so don’t be shy—go full anime star mode! I might just bring a backup costume in case I get inspired last-minute.
If you just want to chill for a bit (because let’s be real, con days can be long), there’s also going to be an anime theater where you can sit back, relax, and watch some anime with other fans. It sounds like the perfect little break spot between all the excitement, and I know I’ll need it after running around all day.
And guess what—Mac Ro is going to be there too! He’s this super fun nerdcore hip-hop artist who mixes anime and gaming vibes into his music, and he’s performing live. I’ve seen some of his videos and he brings so much energy. I’m definitely not missing that set.
There’s also going to be a vendor alley, which is always one of my favorite parts. I love shopping around for anime merch, handmade art, collectibles, maybe even some cute plushies or stickers. It’s a great place to treat myself—or start that early holiday shopping (for real, my anime-loving bestie will thank me later).
The whole event is family-friendly and PG-13, so feel free to bring your little siblings or cousins if they’re into it too. And just to remind you, it’s completely free, but they are asking people to RSVP online, so I went ahead and saved my spot on their Meetup page.
So yeah—Finn‑Con@MDC is shaping up to be the thing to do in Miami that weekend. Whether you’re a full-on anime nerd, a casual gamer, or just curious and looking for something fun to do, I promise you’re going to have a great time. I’ll be there—come say hi!
