Okay, so if you’re into spicy anime, cute and crazy cosplay, and just general late-night nerdy chaos, then you have to check out Ecchi Expo Orlando. It’s happening the weekend of September 5 through 7, and it’s taking over the DoubleTree by Hilton right at the entrance to Universal Orlando. Like, we’re talking theme park vibes and anime dreams all rolled into one amazing weekend.
This isn’t your regular anime convention. Ecchi Expo is for the grown-ups, and it absolutely owns that. It’s bold, it’s flirty, and it’s seriously so much fun. You’ve got raves, contests, after-dark panels, and workshops that are honestly kind of fascinating. And yes, they do Shibari demonstrations — I know, I know. But it’s all super respectful, very informative, and kind of empowering in a weirdly awesome way.
Things kick off Friday afternoon and go alllll the way into the night. Like, two in the morning kind of night. Friday and Saturday both go late, so bring your cutest comfy shoes because you’ll be dancing, hanging out, and probably laughing your butt off until way past bedtime. Sunday wraps up earlier, but don’t skip it — there’s still so much happening.
One thing I’m personally obsessed with is the maid café. It’s got that perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and it’s honestly such a fun little break during the craziness of the day. Plus, there’s an Itasha car showcase, which is basically where people show off their anime-wrapped cars. And if you’ve got one? You get in free for a day just for bringing it. Like, yes please.
But the best part? You can actually be part of the con. If you’ve got an idea for a panel or a fan meetup, you can totally submit it and maybe get added to the schedule. How cool is that? You can also apply to volunteer or even join as an influencer if you’ve got a big enough following. It’s such a great way to get involved and meet other fans who are just as extra as you are.
And if you’re going for the full weekend (which, you should), definitely stay at the DoubleTree. They’ve got special discounted rates for con guests, and it’s so nice to be able to just take the elevator upstairs after a night of dancing and chaos instead of dealing with driving or Ubers. Trust me, your feet will thank you.
Tickets are already on sale and they’re going fast, so don’t wait. Head over to ecchiexpo.org for all the details. You can apply for a booth, sign up to volunteer, or just grab your pass and start planning your outfits.
Honestly, I’m counting down the days. Ecchi Expo is one of those events where you can really be yourself, get a little wild, and just have an amazing time with people who totally get it. I cannot wait to see what everyone wears, what kind of panels pop up, and who shows up to party.
If you’ve never been, this is the year to go. It’s going to be a total blast.
