ATLANTA – The 2025 Dragon Con, the sprawling multigenre convention that transforms downtown Atlanta into a pop-culture Mecca, concluded its five-day run on Labor Day, leaving over 80,000 fans, cosplayers, and celebrities buzzing with excitement and unforgettable memories. Held from August 28 to September 1, the event once again proved why it is a cornerstone of fan culture, blending celebrity appearances, incredible cosplay, and charitable giving into one spectacular weekend.
This year’s event boasted an impressive roster of guests that spanned generations of sci-fi, fantasy, and comic book fame. Fans had the opportunity to meet icons like William Shatner and Christopher Lloyd alongside stars of modern hits such as John Boyega and Karen Fukuhara. The halls of the five host hotels—the Hyatt Regency, Hilton, Marriott Marquis, Courtland Grand, and Westin Peachtree Plaza—were constantly abuzz with panels, autograph sessions, and photo ops, creating a vibrant, shared experience for all attendees.
As always, the heart of Dragon Con beat strongest in its cosplay community. The event lived up to its reputation as a cosplayer’s paradise, with breathtakingly detailed costumes from every conceivable franchise turning the city streets and hotel atriums into a living, breathing comic con. From dawn until well past dusk, organized photo shoots created dazzling scenes of collective creativity, showcasing the immense talent and dedication within the fandom.
Beyond the panels and pictures, the convention continued its proud tradition of philanthropy, raising significant funds for its designated charities through auctions and fan donations. The economic impact was equally staggering, with preliminary reports from Georgia State University indicating the event injected well over $21 million into the local economy.
Attendees also reveled in the sheer volume of exclusive merchandise and giveaways. The legendary “SWAG” did not disappoint, with countless vendors and studios offering unique collectibles, posters, and previews, ensuring everyone went home with a tangible piece of the magic.
