PokeKon Fest is coming to Miami this Saturday, December 13th and if you’re a Pokémon fan, this is the event you’ve been waiting for. The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport is hosting seven hours of pure Pokémon madness from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Vendors are stocked with everything a collector could want. TCG cards in every form—singles, sealed packs, booster boxes—plus toys spanning every generation, retro games, current video games, apparel, jewelry, Pokémon candy, manga, and original artwork. These sellers know their stuff and came prepared with the quality items fans are actually hunting for.
The guest lineup is what really has me hyped though. Michael Haigney will be there doing meet and greets, and if you grew up with the original Pokémon series, you know exactly who that is. He brought Blastoise, Charmander, Snorlax, and Misty’s Psyduck to life with his voice work. Getting to meet him and grab an autograph or photo is going to be unreal.
There’s a cosplay competition at 4 PM that’s completely free to enter. Whether you’ve been working on an elaborate trainer costume or just want to throw together something fun, it’s worth entering. Even spectating is entertaining because Pokémon fans don’t hold back with their cosplay creativity.
Throughout the day, panels will be running on various Pokémon topics. The full schedule is available on the PokeKon website, so check that out before you go so you don’t miss anything you care about.
Admission for Pokekon Fest is $20 at the door, and anyone under 11 gets in free which makes it accessible for families. The DoubleTree is located at 711 NW 72nd Avenue in Miami, right by the airport with shuttle service available if you’re flying in.
Tickets are available online right now. Saturday, December 13th, 10 AM to 5 PM. Come prepared with cash since many vendors prefer it, wear comfortable footwear because you’ll be on your feet browsing for hours, and good luck sticking to any budget you set—once you see what’s available, self-control goes out the window.
