Sgt Flag 7 Brings Indie Comic Heroes Together for One Big Fight

G-Man Comics is releasing Sgt Flag 7 this Sunday, and the issue goes all-in on a crossover event packed with indie comic characters. The story takes Sgt Flag to the San Diego Superhero Con for a panel titled “When Is Excessive Force Necessary Force?” Things go sideways fast when a fight breaks out, including a bear showing up somehow, and suddenly the convention floor turns into a battleground.

The issue features cameos from dozens of indie heroes. Al Capone, Amazing Man, Auroraman, Badger, Blindside, Captain Action, Cat, Countess Dracula, Fianna McCool, Flare, Kaptain Polska, KnightWolf, Man in the Mask, Marshal Strong, Marvelous, Murciélaga She-Bat, Optima, Red Hook, Rob Hanes, ShadowHawk, Shazrath, Shi, Spider-Squirrel, Steel Wolf, T-Man, Tomorrow Girl, Zen Intergalactic Ninja, and Zombie Tramp all make appearances. That’s a lot of characters crammed into one book, but the premise is basically a love letter to indie comics history.

Rik Offenberger and Eric N. Bennett wrote the issue. Hique handles the pencils, Téo Pinheiro does colors and inks, and Bennett letters it. Cover A comes from Hique. The story mixes superhero action with satire about convention culture and questions about power and responsibility, though it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s supposed to be fun.

The Kickstarter for G-Man Comics’ Crossover Crisis is live, and Sgt Flag 7 is part of that campaign. Print copies are $10, digital is $5. If you’re into indie comics or shared universe stories, this is aimed directly at that audience.

Begins this Sunday. Check out the Kickstarter link below for more details.
