Bocas Film Fest Returns This Weekend

If you’re the kind of person who loves finding that one movie nobody else has seen yet—and then telling everyone about it—this is your weekend.

The Bocas Film Fest 2026 is back on April 24 and 25, 2026, bringing a packed lineup of independent films, creative storytelling, and filmmakers who are just as excited to share their work as you are to watch it.

Everything takes place in Melbourne, turning the area into a hub for movie lovers for two full days. It’s not one of those massive, overwhelming festivals—it’s smaller, more laid-back, and way easier to actually enjoy. You can sit down, watch something new, and maybe even meet the people behind it without feeling rushed.

The lineup usually mixes short films, features, and a bunch of different genres, so you’re not stuck watching the same kind of story over and over. One minute it’s something funny, the next it’s intense or completely unexpected—that’s part of the fun.

And yeah, the filmmaker side of things is a big deal too. A lot of creators are there in person, which means you might get the chance to hear what went into the film or chat with them after a screening. It makes the whole experience feel more personal.

At the end of the day, it’s simple—show up, grab a seat, and spend a couple of days getting pulled into stories you wouldn’t normally come across.

If you’re into movies at all, this is an easy yes.
