If you’re into dark fantasy that doesn’t mess around, this one is already sounding like a problem—in a good way.
Image Comics just pulled the curtain back on a new series called Regicide, and the pitch alone hits hard. It’s being described as “Dracula meets Berserk,” which pretty much tells you you’re in for something violent, gothic, and completely unhinged.
The series comes from Patrick Kindlon and Ludovic Lalliat, and it drops readers into a brutal version of Transylvania. The story follows a simple farmhand whose life gets flipped upside down when he’s forced into a deadly mission by his village elders. He ends up traveling with a dangerous, unpredictable partner, and together they’re sent out to assassinate a powerful viceroy. Not exactly a safe assignment.
Everything about this book sounds intense. The tone leans heavy into violence, monsters, and a world that doesn’t give anyone a break. Kindlon has hinted that the series will have a kind of “monster-of-the-month” feel, with each issue throwing new threats and brutal encounters at the characters as they move forward.
And yeah, the Dracula influence isn’t subtle. With the story rooted in Transylvania, it’s pretty clear the series is pulling from the legend of Dracula, and mixing it with the kind of raw, relentless energy fans associate with Berserk.
As for when you can actually grab it, Regicide #1 is set to hit comic shops on August 12, 2026. There are going to be multiple covers too, including variants and a blank sketch cover for anyone who likes getting signatures or custom art.
This feels like one of those books that could build momentum fast once people get a taste of it. If you like your fantasy dark, violent, and a little chaotic, this is definitely one to keep on your radar.
