I attended the Ocala Comic Con on Saturday as it took over the World Equestrian Center on September 19 and 20, bringing a huge weekend of comics, collectibles, cosplay, artists, celebrities, and pop culture to Ocala.
With 135,000 square feet of convention space inside Expo 1, there was plenty of room to wander, browse and discover something unexpected around every corner. The show brought together comic dealers, artists, creators, collectors, vendors and fans for two days filled with the kind of colorful chaos that makes a comic convention so much fun.
Comic books were only part of the attraction. The convention floor was packed with toys, collectibles, memorabilia and plenty of other pop culture treasures, giving collectors plenty to dig through. Artists and creators also gave attendees the chance to check out original work and meet some of the people behind the things they love.
And, of course, there was cosplay. Characters from comics, movies, television, anime and other corners of fandom could be spotted throughout the convention, adding plenty of personality to the busy show floor.
The World Equestrian Center made for an impressive home for the convention, giving Ocala Comic Con the space to spread out while still keeping plenty of activity happening throughout the weekend. Families also had an added incentive to attend, with free parking and children 10 and under admitted free with a paid adult.
From long boxes and collectibles to costumes, artwork and unexpected finds, Ocala Comic Con offered two days of exploring for fans who like their weekends with a healthy dose of comics and pop culture.
