Making Megaforce Director Bob Lindenmayer Heads to Lake County Comic Convention

Some movies become box office hits. Others find their audience years later, long after Hollywood has moved on.

Then there’s Megaforce.

Released in 1982, the science fiction action film starring Barry Bostwick became one of those wonderfully strange pieces of movie history that people are still talking about more than forty years later.

And Bob Lindenmayer has taken his fascination with the film considerably further than most fans.

Lindenmayer is the director of Making Megaforce, a documentary exploring the cult movie and the people behind it. He’s also a serious film prop collector who owns the largest collection of surviving vehicles from Megaforce, several of which he has painstakingly restored to working condition.

That’s right. Those futuristic military vehicles from the movie haven’t all disappeared into Hollywood history.

Some of them are sitting in Lindenmayer’s collection.

His background also includes more than twenty years of graphic design work involving games, websites, videos, and merchandising. But his love of cult cinema and preserving unusual pieces of movie history is what makes his connection to Megaforce particularly interesting.

On Sunday, November 22, 2026, Lindenmayer will be appearing at the Lake County Comic Convention in Clermont, Florida, where fans will have an opportunity to meet the filmmaker behind the documentary.

And there’s something special planned.

The convention will feature the Florida premiere of Making Megaforce, followed by a Q&A featuring Lindenmayer and Megaforce star Barry Bostwick.

For fans of the original film, that’s a pretty unusual opportunity. Not only will they get to see a documentary about the making of the movie, but they’ll also have the chance to hear directly from its star and the filmmaker who helped preserve its history.

Outside of filmmaking and collecting movie props, Lindenmayer spends time with his children, Calvin and Eleanor, racing a vintage Datsun as part of the family’s rally racing team.

Apparently, his interest in unusual vehicles doesn’t end when the movie cameras stop rolling.

Lake County Comic Convention takes place Sunday, November 22, 2026, from 10 AM to 5 PM at the Clermont Performing Arts Center, 3700 S Highway 27, Clermont, Florida 34711.

If you’ve ever watched Megaforce and wondered how such an outrageous movie actually got made, this is your chance to find out.

And with Barry Bostwick and Bob Lindenmayer sharing the spotlight, there should be some pretty entertaining stories coming out of that theater.
