Punk Rock’s Annual Gainesville Reunion Returns for FEST 24

There are music festivals, and then there’s FEST.

For three days every October, Gainesville becomes a gathering place for punk rock fans from around the world. People travel thousands of miles to see their favorite bands, reconnect with old friends, and spend an entire weekend surrounded by independent music.

And in 2026, FEST is celebrating its 24th edition.

FEST 24 takes place October 23–25, 2026, spreading hundreds of performances across downtown Gainesville. The lineup brings together punk, hardcore, emo, ska, indie rock, and plenty of bands that don’t fit neatly into any one category.

The Bouncing Souls, Lagwagon, PUP, A Wilhelm Scream, Samiam, Against All Authority, Mustard Plug, Pulley, The Flatliners, and The Copyrights are among the names appearing this year.

But FEST has never been solely about the bigger bands.

Part of its identity comes from giving smaller independent acts a place alongside musicians who have spent decades touring. In fact, the festival’s second wave of announcements added more than 200 performers, with the promoters noting that 2026 features more first-time FEST bands than any previous edition.

There are also some interesting performances planned for longtime fans.

PUP will perform The Dream Is Over, Algernon Cadwallader has a 20th-anniversary set scheduled, Hey Mercedes will revisit Everynight Fire Works, and Nerf Herder is celebrating its self-titled album. Small Brown Bike, Punchline, Dikembe, and Signals Midwest also have special album performances lined up.

For anyone who has followed these bands for years, those sets alone could make the trip worthwhile.

One of the things that separates FEST from a traditional outdoor music festival is its relationship with downtown Gainesville. Rather than putting everything in a single field behind enormous barricades, performances happen in established music venues, clubs, and other spaces throughout the city.

Bo Diddley Plaza, The Wooly, Heartwood, Vivid Music Hall, Depot Village, and several other locations are part of the 2026 schedule.

That also means some difficult decisions.

You might have two favorite bands playing at nearly the same time in different venues. You can study the schedule, make a careful plan, and still end up changing everything because somebody tells you about a band you absolutely need to see.

FEST also offers more than concerts. Comedy performances, acoustic sets, a flea market, and FEST Wrestling are included in the weekend’s programming, giving attendees a few alternatives between musical performances.

The festival officially runs Friday through Sunday, although an additional kickoff concert is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, at Bo Diddley Plaza.

Three-day passes and individual show tickets are offered, with admission rules varying by venue. Some performances are restricted to FEST pass holders, while others have separate tickets available.

For twenty-four editions, FEST has maintained a connection to independent music that goes beyond simply putting recognizable bands on a poster.

It’s a place where veteran musicians share bills with newer acts, where friendships stretch across state lines and international borders, and where the audience is often just as invested in keeping the music community alive as the people performing.

FEST 24 takes place October 23–25, 2026, throughout downtown Gainesville, Florida.

There are plenty of reasons to visit Gainesville, but for punk rock fans, the last weekend of October has become something of an annual tradition.

And with a lineup like this, 2026 is shaping up to be another memorable chapter in that history.
