Holiday Matsuri, or HolMat, is a convention that caters primarily to the anime and cosplay communities. The convention, which bills itself as a “festively themed” seasonal event, has been held annually in Orlando, since December 2011. Holiday-themed events that have taken place at the convention include a Holiday Ultimate Cosplay Championship and a Winter Cosplay Crown Contest.
Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?
Jamie Mcpherson: When I managed a comic book store, I went to the Diamonds Convention. It was considered a “trade show” mostly back then. We were dealers, along with publishers. One of the comic companies was promoting their new “Vamparella” series. They hired a model that hung out with Stan Lee. I discovered a few “hired models” were there to promote their product. I realized this was a good way to show it, outside of dressing for Halloween.
Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?
Nico Roosen : Found people on google who suited in nice suits.
Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?
Nico Roosen : Superman.

Layla Ali Zamora Rodriguez : I always knew cosplay was around since I was 16 years old I start doing cosplay at 26 years old last year on Halloween
