Cosplayer of the Week: Julie Marie Aleman AKA Sith Void Queen Cosplay

Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?

Julie Marie Aleman : Back in 2014 or so, I started to make cosplay costumes and went out to comic cons.

Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?

Julie Marie Aleman : Dark Rey

Leo Nocedo : What are your next 3 cosplay plans?

Julie Marie Aleman : Laura Victoriano (The Evil Within)
Ruvik Doppelganger (The Evil Within)
Higgs Monaghan (Death Stranding)

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever been in a cosplay contest?

Julie Marie Aleman : Nope and never will. Not comfortable standing on the stage in front of a big crowd.

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer sewing, armor making, or wig working?

Julie Marie Aleman : Sewing.
Soon to do leather crafting for my Plague Doctor cosplay.

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to do photoshoots at cons or at specific locations?

Julie Marie Aleman : At comic con, but, I been thinking about doing a photoshoot at a certain location like a park.

Leo Nocedo : Is there a type of character you cosplay frequently?

Julie Marie Aleman : Dark Rey, but, I have moved on to doing Plague Doctor and Dead By Daylight cosplay aka horror cosplay. Also, Imperial Officer Staff cosplay.

Leo Nocedo : Do you have any favorite cosplayers?

Julie Marie Aleman : I do, theirs a few that I like but a few I haven’t met yet.

Leo Nocedo : What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?

Julie Marie Aleman : Ezio Auditore (Assassin Creed 2)

Leo Nocedo : What are your top 3 craftsmanship tips?

∙ Practice sewing
∙ Use gorilla glue or E6000
∙ Use 3D printers, laser printers or mold casting for you cosplay projects.

Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay you’ve done?

Julie Marie Aleman : Plague Doctor so far.

Leo Nocedo : What is your worst cosplay “horror” story?

Julie Marie Aleman :  I have too much to tell, but, mostly being creeped on.

Leo Nocedo : What’s the best in-character interaction you’ve ever had?

Julie Marie Aleman : I don’t do well being in character because crowds make me nervous.

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever cosplayed with a family member?

Julie Marie Aleman : Nope. I go solo.

Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay photo of yourself?

Julie Marie Aleman : Mostly my Imperial officer staff cosplay

Leo Nocedo : What are your go-to stores for cosplay materials/full cosplays?

Julie Marie Aleman : Joann and Sewing Studio Store in Maitland.

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy pre-styled wigs or style your own?

Julie Marie Aleman : I don’t own a wig yet, but, soon I would buy a pre-styled one for the Laura Victoriano cosplay.

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?

Julie Marie Aleman : Yes, sometimes.

Leo Nocedo : What’s the biggest con you’ve cosplayed at?

Julie Marie Aleman :  Usually Megacon and Holiday Matsuri.

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer cosplaying characters with props, or characters that you don’t need to carry a prop around all day?

Julie Marie Aleman : With Props usually

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever lost a cosplay piece at a con?

Julie Marie Aleman : Nope

Leo Nocedo : Have you ever bought a cosplay piece at a con?

Julie Marie Aleman : More like cosplay props.

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to cosplay solo or in a group?

Julie Marie Aleman : Both

Leo Nocedo : If you had a chance to meet your all-time favorite cosplayer, what would you say to them?

Julie Marie Aleman : I would say hi to them and chat a bit, take selfies/pics then be on my merry way.

Leo Nocedo :Have you ever done a cosplay panel?

Julie Marie Aleman :  Nope and never will.
I am not that popular, I only cosplay for fun.

Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy or make cosplays?

Julie Marie Aleman :  Both. I do buy my cosplay costumes and do mod them a bit.

Leo Nocedo :What is your ultimate dream cosplay?

Julie Marie Aleman :  Ruvik Doppelganger (The Evil Within)

Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult cosplay you’ve ever done? (Craftsmanship, wearing of, ect)

Julie Marie Aleman :  Dark Rey

Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?

Julie Marie Aleman :  Taking selfies, photoshoots, being out there, being recognized and making friends.

Leo Nocedo is a cosplay photographer who has been using a camera for the last forty years in many forms , in the military and professional studios in Miami and New York city . He got his start in cosplay photography attending conventions with his brother Juan Nocedo . He keeps on doing what he does to honor his late brother .
