Leo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?
Sith Jade : My dad was HUGE into comics and used to take me to Emerald city comics, I saw all the costumes and instantly knew I wanted to create those characters in real life!
Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?
Sith Jade : My first cosplay was Harley Quinn haha as it was for a lot of girls just getting into cosplay.
Leo Nocedo : What are your next 3 cosplay plans?
Sith Jade : Only 3?? Haha! All jokes aside my very next 3 are Black Widow in her new white suit, Chun Li and my revamped Darth Talon!
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever been in a cosplay contest?
Sith Jade : I’ve been in a few small ones over the years, they’re a lot of fun but I’ve never won one.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer sewing, armor making, or wig working?
Sith Jade : I prefer sewing and working with foam to make weapons!
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to do photoshoots at cons or at specific locations?
Sith Jade : I love both BUT doing them at a location can sometimes be so much better! Not as crowded and if you scout before hand you can get some amazing shots.
Leo Nocedo : Is there a type of character you cosplay frequently?
Sith Jade : My whole vibe is Star Wars so I’ll usually stick to that universe.
Leo Nocedo : Do you have any favorite cosplayers?
Sith Jade : I’m a huge fan of Kamui cosplay and her adorable Corgis as well as Dark Lady Cosplay, they both make amazing foam armor and I’ve always wanted to do that!
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?
Sith Jade : The most detailed would for sure be my mystique or my Gamora as they both took 5+ hours of airbrushing and shading for the body paint.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay you’ve done?
Sith Jade : My favorite so far has been my Darth Talon that I’m working on for a second time to make her even better!
Leo Nocedo :What is your worst cosplay “horror” story?
Sith Jade : I was at a con in a very very tight spandex outfit (Spidey costume) and I was jumping around with some friends and the entire butt seam ripped completely haha.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the best in-character interaction you’ve ever had?
Sith Jade : I’ve had a few but my most favorite I was dressed up as black cat but wearing a Spidey suit and a little girl who was mostly non verbal autistic ran up to me and hugged me yelling spider girl haha it was so adorable!
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever cosplayed with a family member?
Sith Jade : Me and my husband Blake Stone regularly cosplay together, he’s the whole reason I got into the Spiderverse girls and dressing up as them!
Leo Nocedo : What are your go-to stores for cosplay materials/full cosplays?
Sith Jade : I use Amazon to buy a lot of my pieces for outfits and surprisingly Ross as well!
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy pre-styled wigs or style your own?
Sith Jade : I’ll usually buy a cheaper wig off Amazon and then I’ll style it to look how I want, it’s definitely a useful skill.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?
Sith Jade : It’s happened a lot haha but I just love seeing people get excited even if they do misidentify me.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the biggest con you’ve cosplayed at?
Sith Jade : I went to Star Wars celebration and it was the biggest and most magical con ever! I hope to also go to Dragon Con one year!
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer cosplaying characters with props, or characters that you don’t need to carry a prop around all day?
Sith Jade : It depends on if I have a handler, they can really help if the prop gets too heavy or if you need someone to hold it while you spend all your money at the merchant booths lol.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to cosplay solo or in a group?
Sith Jade : It’s always more fun with friends! Anytime I get the chance to do a big group cosplay I jump on it.
Leo Nocedo : If you had a chance to meet your all-time favorite cosplayer, what would you say to them?
Sith Jade : I would just thank her for being so dedicated and teaching so many people how to foam work! Sharing your knowledge is really kind for the community and Kaumi has definitely done that!
Leo Nocedo : If you could tell your past self anything about cosplay, what would you say?
Sith Jade : ALWAYS have a backup outfit ready and a needle and thread just in case haha.
Leo Nocedo : What is your ultimate dream cosplay?
Sith Jade : I’d love to do a full foam World of Warcraft or League of Legends cosplay!
Leo Nocedo :What, in your opinion, makes a cosplayer a “pro” cosplayer?
Sith Jade : Honestly I think the amount of time that goes into your craft, if you’ve put hours into your work and really poured your heart into it I’d call you a pro!
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?
Sith Jade : Cosplaying is an escape for me, I can become someone else and really bring the character to life! Getting to use my sewing and art skills that might have otherwise gone to waste.
