11SHARESLeo Nocedo : How did you discover cosplaying?
Patrick Broadnax : I discovered cosplay about 10 years ago. I always thought it would be cool to try out.
Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?
Patrick Broadnax : My very first cosplay was Scorpion from MK. Although Sub-Zero was my favorite character, Scorpion just look way cooler so I tried it.
Leo Nocedo : What are your next 3 cosplay plans?
Patrick Broadnax : My next 3 were Blade, Darth REVAN and Luke Cage.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever been in a cosplay contest?
Patrick Broadnax : no lol! I’ve never been in a cosplay contest before. I think I’m a little to shy for that
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer sewing, armor making, or wig working?
Patrick Broadnax : I like mostly armor because I’ve found it more challenging to build.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to do photoshoots at cons or at specific locations?
Patrick Broadnax : I like them both actually. I really don’t have a preference.
Leo Nocedo : Is there a type of character you cosplay frequently?

Leo Nocedo : Do you have any favorite cosplayers?
Patrick Broadnax : Wow! The list is so long! I love Ronald Seaman, Rick Rosa, big Scott Whipp….mann I could go on!!!
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?
Patrick Broadnax : I’d say the most detailed would have to be the Mandalorian. That really took some time because I want screen accuracy. I actually used the toy to complete the cosplay.
Leo Nocedo : What are your top 3 craftsmanship tips?
Patrick Broadnax : Cosplay YOUR WAY! There is no right or wrong way to create. Use plastidip if you’re working with armor,it is your friend. If you don’t have an airbrush GET ONE!!! It really brings out the full potential of your cosplay.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay you’ve done?
Patrick Broadnax : Wow… that a tough one…umm…. I would have to say BLADE because some people say I look like Wesley Snipes
Leo Nocedo : What is your worst cosplay “horror” story?
Patrick Broadnax : I really don’t have a horror story to tell that’s cosplay related.
Leo Nocedo : What’s your funniest cosplay story?
Patrick Broadnax : We were at Comic-Con and I was Blade. Ron and. I were walking around, I was in front of him with my sword unsheathed, well… you remember that scene in the movie when he says “there’s worst things out tonight than vampires “ then he twirls around his blade and puts it in his sheath ….yeah that happened.. ON THE FIRST TRY!!! I was never able to do that again
Leo Nocedo : What’s the best in-character interaction you’ve ever had?
Patrick Broadnax : I was cosplaying as Black Panther and went to a low income neighborhood and the kids went absolutely crazy!!! IT WAS SO AMAZING! They loved the African voice I was doing, I mean they actually thought I was the genuine article. This was the best interaction I’ve ever had in my life!
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever cosplayed with a family member?
Patrick Broadnax : No I haven’t.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay photo of yourself?
Patrick Broadnax : It would have to be Blade and T’Challa.
Leo Nocedo : What are your go-to stores for cosplay materials/full cosplays?
Patrick Broadnax : PARTY PLANET OF BRANDON of course . The can get starter costumes that you can improve upon to create your cosplay!
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy pre-styled wigs or style your own?
Patrick Broadnax : I don’t where wigs but I’d buy pre-styled.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?
Patrick Broadnax : no… lol.. I’ve never had that problem.
Leo Nocedo : List all the cosplays you’ve done. Scorpion, BLADE, Luke Cage, King T’Challa, Black Panther, King T’Chaka’s Black Panther, Darth REVAN, and Mando.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the biggest con you’ve cosplayed at?
Patrick Broadnax : I’ve only been to one and that was comic con in Tampa
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer cosplaying characters with props, or characters that you don’t need to carry a prop around all day?
Patrick Broadnax : I prefer to have props I can wear rather than carry in my hands..eeh… call me lazy
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever lost a cosplay piece at a con?
Patrick Broadnax : No I never have.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever bought a cosplay piece at a con?
Patrick Broadnax : No I haven’t.

Patrick Broadnax : I really don’t know many I haven’t met really.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever done a cosplay panel?
Patrick Broadnax : No I haven’t… I’m way too much a novice in this
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy or make cosplays?
Patrick Broadnax : I do both so I really don’t have a preference. When I buy a base costume I improve upon it and make it my own.
Leo Nocedo : If you could tell your past self anything about cosplay, what would you say?
Patrick Broadnax : Get and airbrush and learn to really use it!!!!!
Leo Nocedo : What is your ultimate dream cosplay?
Patrick Broadnax : Wow… my ultimate dream cosplay is Raiden from Metal Gear! I really wanna do this but I can’t seam to find the time
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult cosplay you’ve ever done? (Craftsmanship, wearing of, ect)
Patrick Broadnax : To be honest I’d have to say Luke Cage because of the physical conditioning of my body. If I’m being true to the character, I have to put in major work in the gym to bulk up for this particular cosplay. I know it may not be this serious to most people but I want screen or a true comic look.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult character makeup you’ve done?
Patrick Broadnax : I’ve never used makeup.
Leo Nocedo : What, in your opinion, makes a cosplayer a “pro” cosplayer?
Patrick Broadnax : A cosplayer like Raymon Ramos now there’s a pro! He’s has his own Cosplay Ray podcast and video his builds. I think that constitutes as pro… however I could be wrong.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?
Patrick Broadnax : My favorite part of cosplaying is being able to let myself go…. get over my natural shyness. I can truly be someone else without being judged or shamed.
Leo Nocedo : Make up your own question!
Patrick Broadnax : Do you feel that we need more African American characters in the comic book world to be created to cosplay?
