Roland Pare : When we attended our first Lebowski Fest, a convention dedicated to the greatest movie of all time.
Leo Nocedo : What was your first cosplay?
Roland Pare : Walter Sobchek and Maude Lebowski
Leo Nocedo : What are your next 3 cosplay plans?
Roland Pare : New cosplays planned: Odin and Frigga, Aberforth Dumbledore and Madame Rosmerta, TBD
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer sewing, armor making, or wig working?
Roland Pare : Sewing is the simplest but love the challenge of new fabrications.
Leo Nocedo : Is there a type of character you cosplay frequently?
Roland Pare : Movie characters are our go too, but we do all types of famdoms.
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most detailed cosplay you’ve ever done?
Roland Pare :Game of Thrones Ser Davos and Catelyn Stark
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay you’ve done?
Roland Pare : Saruman and Gandalf. Denise loves that people are surprised that she’s not a man!
Leo Nocedo : What’s your funniest cosplay story?
Roland Pare :With Elijah Wood. We handed him the Palantir Denise made that lights up and looks like The Eye of Sauron. When he saw it, he asked if she made it, when she said that she did, he said “This is f****** awesome!
Leo Nocedo : What’s the best in-character interaction you’ve ever had?
Roland Pare :We cosplayed Tex and Edna Boil for an SCTV skit because Dave Thomas who played Tex was at the con.. When we met him and did the lines, his eyes lit up and he smiled so big! He immediately said that he wanted a picture with us and was going to send it to Andrea Martin, who played Edna.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever cosplayed with a family member?
Roland Pare :Well, we are married, so yes.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite cosplay photo of yourself?
Roland Pare : Our pic with Jon Rhys-Davies when we did Saruman and Gandalf.
Leo Nocedo : Have you ever had someone mistake you for a different character?
Roland Pare :Yes. Denise was dressed as Missy and John Barrowman thought she was Mary Poppins! He was very embarrassed.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer cosplaying characters with props, or characters that you don’t need to carry a prop around all day?
Roland Pare : We like having props as the really make the cosplay and helps to make more interesting photos.
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to cosplay solo or in a group?
Roland Pare : Both
Leo Nocedo : Do you prefer to buy or make cosplays?
Roland Pare : Make, of course!
Leo Nocedo : What’s the most difficult character makeup you’ve done?
Roland Pare :Denise made a giant foam head for her Thor-Dora Mashup – Thora The Explorer. It was also hard to walk around the Con as the eye holes were small.
Leo Nocedo : What is your favorite part of cosplaying?
Roland Pare :Making the costumes and the challenge of trying to be as screen accurate as possible.
