Liam Sharp Brings Spawn Back to the Dark Ages

This October, Spawn: The Dark Ages returns with a new six-issue miniseries from Liam Sharp. The series is being published by Image Comics and Todd McFarlane Productions. Sharp is handling the writing, inking, and coloring duties.

The story takes place in 5th century Britain, during a period of cultural and religious transition. The Roman Empire has withdrawn, Christianity is rising, and outside forces like the Saxons, Picts, and Hibernians are threatening the land. The plot follows King Aurelianus Ambrosius, who seeks help from a Hellspawn named Erlking Ulegrave, a figure tied to the Wild Hunt.

The new Spawn: The Dark Ages is a standalone miniseries, designed to be accessible to new readers. It features historical elements blended with supernatural themes from the Spawn Universe.

The first issue will be available in comic shops on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. There will be four covers: two by Liam Sharp, a blank sketch variant, and a 1:50 incentive variant by Ryan Brown.

This is a completely new story and not a reprint of the earlier Spawn: The Dark Ages series. It features a different Hellspawn character and an original narrative.
