Ram V, Evan Cagle, and Anand Radhakrishnan are bringing Deicidium to Image Comics starting October 2026. The nine-volume sci-fi graphic novel series begins with Deicidium: Omens and features black-and-white artwork from Cagle for the first year.
The story takes place in a future rebuilt after war where corporations merged with engineered religions. Worship functions as currency and faith becomes a tradable commodity in this industrialized belief system.
Ancient gods start waking up inside ordinary people. Fire, wind, jaguar, mischief, and war deities emerge, turning regular humans into living gods. This disrupts the controlled society that depends on manufactured religion for stability.
The established powers respond by sending twelve operatives trained specifically to hunt and kill these reborn deities. These operatives came from a specialized facility designed to eliminate threats to the corporate religious order.
The conflict centers on control versus freedom. The series examines whether salvation comes from external systems imposed from above or emerges from within people themselves. The ideological battle plays out through action as the hunters pursue the awakened gods.
Ram V reunites with artists Evan Cagle and Anand Radhakrishnan, the team behind Grafity’s Wall and Dawnrunner. The collaboration focuses on detailed black-and-white art released at a slower pace, roughly three graphic novels per year, to maintain quality.
The series draws from Heroes, Shōnen manga, European bandes dessinées, and urban fantasy. These influences shape both the storytelling structure and visual approach across the planned nine volumes.
A 14-page preview of Deicidium: Omens appears in Image Comics’ Free Comic Book Day offering on May 2, 2026. This gives readers a first look at the art style and story before the October launch.
Image Comics publishes the English edition while Morgen handles the French release. The international publishing deal brings Deicidium to audiences in multiple markets simultaneously.
