Horror fans have plenty to look forward to as Popcorn Frights Film Festival returns to South Florida from August 6–16, 2026, with what organizers are calling the festival’s biggest lineup yet. The annual celebration of horror cinema will once again bring premieres, special screenings, filmmaker appearances, and homegrown productions to Fort Lauderdale.
This year’s lineup includes an early presentation of The End of Oak Street, starring Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway, along with a screening of the Miami-filmed cult favorite Band of the Hand. South Florida filmmakers will also be in the spotlight with projects including the documentary Best Served Cold: How a Revenge Film Was Buried for Decades and the locally produced horror comedy Horror Insurance.
Screenings will take place at Savor Cinema and the Classic Gateway Theater in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to its in-theater schedule, the festival will once again offer a virtual program featuring a selection of horror films from around the world.
Now in its twelfth year, Popcorn Frights has grown into one of the country’s premier genre film festivals, drawing horror fans, filmmakers, and industry professionals from across the globe. If horror is your genre of choice, August is shaping up to be a good month to spend in South Florida.
