Savage Dragon #281 has become another fast seller for Image Comics, with the latest issue by Erik Larsen selling out at the distributor level just days after its release.
To keep up with retailer demand, Image Comics has already sent the issue back for a second printing. The issue continues the current storyline as Malcolm Dragon returns home from Russia to discover that life has moved on without him, leaving him to figure out where he fits next.
The sellout follows a similar response to Savage Dragon #280, showing that interest in Larsen’s long-running creator-owned series remains strong as it moves closer to its milestone 300th issue. First published in 1992 alongside the launch of Image Comics, Savage Dragon holds the distinction of being the longest-running full-color comic book series written and drawn by a single creator.
Readers who missed the first printing won’t have to wait long. Savage Dragon #281 Second Printing is scheduled to arrive in comic shops on August 26, 2026.
