Royals Brings a Supernatural Crime Caper to Image Comics This Fall

Image Comics is bringing a new crime story with a supernatural twist to comic shops this fall with Royals, a standalone graphic novel from writer Derek Kirk Kim and artist Jacob Perez.

The story follows twin brothers Paul and Castor, who have figured out how to turn their unusual telepathic connection into a very profitable poker hustle. Things go sideways when the pair gets caught by one of Seoul’s most dangerous criminal organizations.

Now they’re stuck with a serious problem. Instead of simply walking away, the brothers have to pull off a heist for the people they crossed. Their telepathic ability could give them the edge they need, but working together may be harder than it sounds.

Set against the streets of Seoul, Royals mixes crime, family drama, supernatural abilities, and humor into a story about two brothers who suddenly find themselves in way over their heads.

Derek Kirk Kim, whose previous work includes The Last Mermaid and Same Difference, teams with artist Jacob Perez, known for his work on Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The complete series will be collected in one trade paperback.

The Royals trade paperback collects issues #1-6 and arrives at comic shops on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. The book will then reach independent bookstores and other retailers on Tuesday, December 8. A digital edition will also be available.

For readers who like crime stories with a supernatural angle, Royals offers a different kind of heist story — one where having a psychic connection with your brother might be just as much of a problem as it is an advantage.
