Aaron was going for… not that. “I love interior design and really wanted to celebrate the modern world of sports cards.” After going through dozens of possible floor plans, Aaron took inspiration from how trendy shoe stores – the collectible sneaker market has been insanely popular for many years now – use vertical space. AA’s 18’ walls are covered with custom transparent grids containing graded cards. Each grid has a QR code; scan the code, and you are taken to a website with complete information about every card in that grid, including images of the fronts and backs, population counts, and pricing. “It’s a unique and very cool interactive display that combines the best of the online and physical worlds,” said Aaron.

Rich Layton has been collecting cards since he was 6 years old. He used to collect with his father, who helped him build a card shop in the attic of his childhood home. Rich’s friends would come over and they would trade cards. As he grew older he stopped collecting, but quickly remembered what he loved about collecting when his wife, Sara, came home with a box of 2011 Topps Series 2.
Rich started to do research and saw how differently collecting was from the 80s and 90s. He ended up on YouTube watching group breaks and thought ‘I can do this and bring something special to the table”. Laytonsportscards.com launched in September, 2012 with breaks from our small apartment in Cape May, NJ. All of Rich’s hardwork and determination helped LSC grow and our very first hobby shop was opened in December, 2012.
Layton Sports Cards relocated from New Jersey to Florida and grew from four team members to twenty and continues to grow. Our new 7,000 sq ft facility opened in September, 2021. Come visit our shop in Apopka, Florida, just outside of Orlando.

Matt’s Dugout was not always Matt’s Dugout. I grew up in a small town in New Jersey, about an
hour away from Philadelphia. My father Don was a sports fanatic, specifically Philadelphia.
Of course being his only child, I was dragged into all of them. Throughout my entire childhood I played just about every sport imaginable, and Don was my coach for the majority of them.
Eventually, sports for my family became a lifestyle. Everyday after Don got out of work, he would
come home, throw a game on, and we would dream about starting our own sports business
together one day.
While I was in college getting a degree in business with this goal in mind, I
discovered sports card breaking. Don and I have always loved opening sports cards, and we
thought that we might be able to turn it into some kind of business.
Every weekend, Don helped me out with the business idea until the dream became reality. When my family moved down to
Florida, I decided to follow and build out my business full-time. When Matt’s Dugout began to
take off, Don decided to quit his job and work with me on our dream.
Matt’s Dugout is constantl growing, and we look forward to it each and every day.
