Fans who missed two of the biggest surprises in the Energon Universe are getting another chance to add them to their collections.
Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Hasbro, have announced that ROM Special #1 and M.A.S.K. Origins #1 will receive standard comic shop releases on August 26, 2026. Both books were originally available only through the M.A.S.K. #1 Blind Bag program, making them difficult to track down after selling out.
ROM Special #1 reprints ROM’s first appearance in the Energon Universe. The issue reunites Void Rivals co-creators Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici, who introduced the classic Space Knight into the shared universe. Readers can also expect to see more of ROM and his alien companion, Carpet, in future issues of Void Rivals.
Also arriving that day is M.A.S.K. Origins #1, a double-sized issue collecting the first appearances of M.A.S.K., V.E.N.O.M., and several key moments that helped launch the newest corner of the Energon Universe.
Both books will feature multiple cover options, including artwork from Lorenzo De Felici, Christian Ward, E.J. Su, Nick Bradshaw, Pye Parr, Jason Howard, Ethan Young, Ben Oliver, and others.
ROM Special #1 and M.A.S.K. Origins #1 arrive at comic shops on August 26, 2026, giving readers another opportunity to pick up two issues that were previously available only through the blind bag promotion.
