Image Comics is bringing a little-known piece of cyberpunk comic history back to the shelves in 2027 with a new hardcover collection of Assassins’ Guild.
Originally published in 2004, the series was written by Randy Taylor, with artwork by Dustin Weaver and Joe Fauvel. The new hardcover will collect the complete Assassins’ Guild #0-4, giving readers a chance to experience the series in one volume.
The story takes place in a future where corporations have taken control of America and violence and corruption have become part of everyday life. Tactical officer Alex Dayne reaches a breaking point after developing a conscience, putting him directly in the sights of the powerful Valentine Corporation.
Rather than disappear quietly, Alex turns to New Washington’s criminal underworld and assembles a team of outcasts. Together, they set out to take on the corporate machine and assassinate its CEO. The result is a cyberpunk action story filled with corporate power, rebellion, and revenge.
For Dustin Weaver, Assassins’ Guild represents an early chapter in a comic book career that would later include work for Marvel and other major publishers. The series is described by Image Comics as his debut series, making the upcoming collection an interesting look at the beginnings of his career.
Joe Fauvel’s involvement is also getting a proper spotlight with the new collection. The official publisher listing credits Weaver Dustin and Joe Fauvel as the illustrators, alongside Taylor’s writing.
The hardcover will feature 136 pages and carry a $24.99 cover price. It is scheduled for release in comic shops on January 20, 2027, followed by its bookstore and wider retail release on February 16, 2027.
For readers who missed the original series, the new collection offers an opportunity to discover Assassins’ Guild without having to track down the individual issues. For fans familiar with Weaver’s later work, it also provides a look back at one of the early projects that helped establish his career.
