Daniel Warren Johnson’s Eisner Award winning Do A Powerbomb returns in black and white format from Image Comics. Issue one hits comic shops July 8, 2026 showcasing Johnson’s line work stripped of color.
Lona Steelrose lives under the shadow of her mother, the greatest pro-wrestler ever. A wrestling-obsessed necromancer changes everything by inviting her to the grandest and most dangerous pro-wrestling tournament of all time.
Johnson previously worked on Transformers and The Moon is Following Us. The original Do A Powerbomb won an Eisner Award for its action-packed storytelling combining supernatural elements with professional wrestling culture.
Johnson explained the series started with simple pen and ink. The black and white presentation returns the story to its first iteration before color was added. He expressed pride in seeing the book back on shelves in this format.
Six variant covers launch the first issue: four covers by Johnson, one by J.B. Roe with Mike Spicer and Daniel Warren Johnson, and a blank sketch cover. The three-part black and white series releases in installments beginning July 8.
Digital editions remain available across Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play for readers preferring electronic formats or the original color version.
